It’s been a while since I released a new WordPress plugin but I’m happy to say that Wikilinker is now available for download.

Wikilinker provides a simple shortcode that you can wrap around text from a post and it will automatically add a link to an appropriate Wikipedia article – this is very useful when writing articles and you want to explain something.

For example, writing the following sentence…

Chicago was the codename for [wikilink]Windows 95[/wikilink].

Would produce the line…

Chicago was the codename for Windows 95.

There are additional parameters available to easily style the resulting link and even a settings screen with administration so that you can define the default values of these. If you have any issues or ideas, please don’t hesitate to use the support forum on WordPress.org.
