The Q21 earphones, from SoundPEATS, are another of their more premium products but, like all their others, represent excellent value for money.

So, these are Bluetooth earphones with an inline control build into a short cable that runs from one earpiece to another. This remote has a microphone (for taking calls) and 3 multi-use buttons which do everything from changing tracks to pairing the headphones. A small LED also provides a useful status indicator although voice prompts are also used to make it even easier to use. Recharged via a USB socket (also on the control) these should last you 6 hours of music playback.

The backs of the earpieces are magnetic so can be hung around your neck when not in use. 3 different sized ear-tip pairs are provided and there are also different sized rubber “hooks” which retain the earpieces in your ear. Also included are various clips and holders for the short cable that runs between the two sides.

The sound is up to the current high standard of SoundPEATS products – earlier models lacked bass but these, along with other recent releases, are much better. The sound is quite neutral (but in a good way) with good clarity. aptX is present for those who have this on their mobile device, as is CSR noise reduction for the purpose of taking calls.

Using the provided ear-clips they are easily to put in but their sheer length and metal weight means that they stick out of the ear quite substantially and felt a little more unstable than others in the range. I can’t fault the build  – the metal construction is lovely but it does add extra weight, particularly when these stick out of the ear so far.

The packaging is a box containing a hard case for the earphones, containing the various ear-tips, clips, etc as well as the earphones and a USB charging cable. Also in the box is a small instruction booklet. You get a lot for your money although I’m not quite sure, with the items held in case within a box, why plastic bags and cable ties are then required to hold together everything else, especially as the hard case has a netted section inside which would happily hold the accessories.

Excellent sound, excellent value for money and an excellent line-up of accessories, these are certainly worth of consideration. Their build is superb but I found the sheer size and weight made them slightly unstable in the ear – your mileage, of course, may vary.
