James Altucher, a “investor, writer and entrepreneur” publishes regular podcasts and, for this latest, he interviewed Matt Mullenweg, CEO of Automattic.

One thing that really stuck out with me was the following quote from Matt…

My dad worked for the same company for 26 years. The fact that he more than doubled his salary when he left shows that they were, essentially, taking advantage of him.

He gave the company the loyalty of decades and they didn’t return that loyalty.

As someone who left a role after 28 years to join Automattic, and received an immediate 50% increase in salary, this really does strike home with me.

For those who are curious to learn more about how Automattic works and the principles and thoughts behind it, this is an excellent listen. In fact, it’s pretty good even for those working for the company too, as even I learnt some things from it too 😉
