We meat again – the experiment is over (for now)

Back in September, I gave up meat. But, in the last week, I’ve gone back. Am I just some snowflake or who can’t stand missing out on bacon? Needless to say, I’m not.

The reason I gave up meat in the first place was for health reasons – a mystery (to British doctors) illness keeps befalling me and meat eating appeared to be behind it. However, since giving it up, I’ve continued to have health problems so, well, it doesn’t appear to be that.

I was always planning on eating meat at Christmas (yeah, I wanted turkey, okay?) anyway but I think it’s a relief to my wife too, who found herself having to prepare a lot of meals that she wasn’t crazy about herself.

I do remain vegetarian when it come to my lunches – just as I have for a number of years previously.

However, a recent visit to the Doctors, unrelated to this issue, has suggested I try a few weeks gluten free and then a few weeks dairy free – something I’ll be trying in the New Year. Maybe one of those will also reveal the source of my mystery illness too.

What is important to note, though, is that I remain tee-total.
