A few days ago my wife reported that her Windows 10 laptop had lost internet connectivity. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to deal with this – my wife’s older laptop and my eldest daughter’s laptops have all had issues in the past (in the case of my daughters, it actually involved rolling back to an older version of the driver software, as the band-N driver wasn’t working correctly).
Disconnected and reconnecting didn’t cure it and in the end I went for the trusty reboot. That didn’t work so I went for a reboot of my router (even though everything else was online it was, at least, worth a try). Finally, I turned to command mode and ran an
IPCONFIG /RENEW. That worked but I never understood why.
