Well, I’d argue a a Five Nights at Freddy’s plush and vinyl figure isn’t, however cute and fluffy it is. And that’s exactly what I found, sat alongside Ben 10 and other children’s toys, at my local Tesco’s.

WordCamp Edinburgh diary: my first talk
Another WordCamp. But this one’s different – I’m not going as a volunteer but as a speaker, to deliver my first ever talk. All the way up in Edinburgh, it’s also going to be the smallest of the WordCamps I’ve attended too.

It’s official – I’ll be speaking at WordCamp Edinburgh next month
I may have developing on the WordPress platform for 11 years but, as yet, I haven’t been a speaker at a WordCamp. In fact, other than at work, internally, I’ve never given a talk on WordPress at all. So, it’s with some relief that I can announce that I will “pop my cherry” next month, as I’m announced as a speaker at WordCamp Edinburgh.
But there’s a little story behind it (ssshhh, don’t tell the organisers).

VIP GM in Montréal, Canada
Automattic has split. Kind of. The VIP team are now working as a separate, autonomous entity, albeit still part of Automattic, and as a result we have the inaugural VIP Grand Meetup. It’s back to Canada again, although the East coast this time.

Following the work of others
Let’s talk about improving your own support abilities by tracking the work of others.
You’ll come across people, in whatever line of support that you work in, with a style that you like – they may be colleagues or they may simple be people you see in forums. Whether it’s their social patter with the customer or whether it’s how they deal with more difficult subjects, rather than think “yeah, that’s good” and move on, why not consider a bit of non-creepy stalking? I’ll give you my own, personal examples.
