    Pogoplug – now just £10

I’ve reviewed the Pogoplug before and really love it. I continue to use it this day – in my case I use it for off-site laptop backups.

The Pogoplug is a box that you connect to your broadband router. You then plug in, via USB, any number of USB devices (there are 3 ports on the Pogoplug itself but you can use USB hubs as well), whether USB memory sticks or external hard drives. The contents of these drives can then be accessed anywhere you are – either via their website, a smartphone app or a desktop program (which will map drive letters to your Pogoplug).

Anyway, it’s now available for just £10. That must be less than the physical cost of the hardware components. Ok, there’s an additional £10 delivery cost (it comes from Germany), but that’s still an absolute bargain that shouldn’t be missed.

However, it was only when looking for this error along with Evernote that I stumbled across something less radical that, thankfully, fixed the issue.

    WordPress Transient Housekeeping

A number of my WordPress plugins make use of transients to cache data. However, I’ve had a number of people – mainly relating to Artiss YouTube Embed – highlight the large number of entries this is creating in their Options table. In the case of that plugin I implemented an option that allowed you to clear old transients down and even list the number stored.

Today I had a chance to investigate it further and found a large number of transients that had expired still in my Options table.

    Sorry, what was that again?

People generally don’t like security Captchas (I’m on a mission to remove them from this site). And considering my recent experience trying to add a comment to Blogger (ironically responding on a Google post) you can understand why.
