Using ChatGPT for my latest WordPress plugin: Part 2

This is follow-up to my post “Using ChatGPT for my latest WordPress plugin“.

The second component of the WordPress plugin that I wish to use ChatGPT for is for where I identify admin menu items that have been placed at the top of the list for no reason other than for self-promotion. Without AI, I push them down to the bottom of the list but, with a little bit of ChatGPT magic, I can position them more thoughtfully.

Here’s a ChatGPT example that asks where a specific plugin would be best positioned, based on the default menu structure…

Tell me which of the following categories the WordPress plugin at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/ is a best fit for it - dashboard, posts, media, pages, comments, appearance, users or tools. Explain why.

Again, I’m picking on Yoast SEO for no particular reason.

This query will give an explanation as to why it was picked. When I tried it on my World Domination plugin, a plugin that adds a dashboard widget, it placed it very much in the same category as Yoast SEO – Tools. Which is odd. The may be more indicative of me not describing that plugin very well, rather than ChatGPT getting it generally wrong.

To get ChatGPT to return just the category name, you’d do something like this…

Tell me just the name of which of the following categories the WordPress plugin at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/ is a best fit for it - dashboard, posts, media, pages, comments, appearance, users or tools

And that, right now, are my 2 queries that I’ll be using (refined, I’m sure). Once I’ve worked out the intricacies of using the ChatGPT API, I’ll post details of that too so that you can see the final solution.
