Thank you for… doing what you should be doing

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve twice been thanked by passing pedestrians as I’ve been out on my bike.

One, for stopping at a red traffic light and the other for dismounting my bike before going across a narrow foot bridge.

It seems bizarre to me that this is the kind of behaviour that needs calling out. Do we stop and thank car drivers for sticking to the road and not mounting the pavements?

It just shows how poor quality cycling has become in this country. Is it any wonder that we get no respect from drivers?
