The one thing you need to know about diets

I wrote some time ago about the fact that I’d been on a diet. I lost a crazy (but not unhealthy) amount of weight and been steady around a specific weight now for over a year.

Whilst reading about a co-worker asking about diets, I stopped myself from replying to them – the thing is, one post aside, I haven’t spoken much about my weight loss, and this come back to why I didn’t reply to my co-worker. Simply put, diets are an incredibly personal choice.

Recipe: Make your own healthy baked beans

This is a first on my blog – a recipe! In this case, it’s a recipe for a healthy version of baked beans.

If you’re a WW member, then my recipe is usually about 1 point her portion, depending on the ingredients you use.

This is a modified version of a WW member provided receipt, where I’ve replaced a product that can only be purchased directly from WW, by an every-day supermarket item.

  • The state of vegetarian food

    The state of vegetarian food

In the past, I’ve mentioned how, for a number of years, I’ve reduced my meat intake (and was even totally veggie for 3 months). To do this, I’ve made use of meat alternatives, such as those provided by Quorn.

But as the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle is becoming more popular, the supermarkets are finally trying to compete with these well known brands. However, the quality of these products are, shall, we say lacking – if it’s not battered, it’s covered in breadcrumbs. There’s a lack of anything that you’d add to other ingredients – it’s all meat-free chicken nuggets and the like (just take a look at the picture above). And, sadly, the quality of the Quorn products has dropped significantly too – seemingly to match.

  • I'm half the man I used to be

I'm half the man I used to be

    But not literally.

Last June I decided to finally do something about my weight. It wasn’t causing health issues and tests in recent years had a shown low cholesterol and a strong heart. Never-the-less, I wasn’t happy.

So, just like that, I did.

I joined WW (what was Weight Watchers) and this week I celebrated losing over 50 lbs in total (53 lbs in total). That’s over 20% of my body weight. So, I’m four fifths of the man that I used to be, if we’re being rather more literal.
