Back in 2012 I attended a meetup for bloggers, during which the journalist Stuart Heritage gave an excellent talk about writing. And number 8 on his list of things that he felt were important was, well, what you can see in the image above.
Tongue-in-cheek it may seem but it was important to Stuart and has stayed with me since. In fact, it became an important part of his first book. It’s a modern interpretation of “be excellent to one another”, I guess, but is more realistic – you don’t have to be amazing, just don’t be terrible.
I often think, in whatever I’m doing, “am I being a dick”. Sadly, it’s a mantra that more people should really pick up.
