Bullet points and punctuation

Just to be clear from the start, I am not a fan of most grammar “rules” (especially as they’re usually anything but). My writing may give that away.

However, I thought I’d share something I learnt recently about the use of bullet points which does make sense. But, feel free to ignore them.

Basically, it’s to do with whether a bullet-pointed sentence should end with a full stop or not. And the rule is – only if it’s a complete sentence (i.e. you could take the bullet point away and it would make sense). So, here’s an example of where you would use a full stop:

  • This is a complete sentence with a full stop at the end.

And this is where you wouldn’t:

  • no full stop in this case

That is all. Please carry on.
